Be the Softness
Lately, I’ve found myself thinking about how much brighter our world could be if more of us simply chose to support one another. Not agree on everything… that’s impossible. But just support. Just offer kindness, even when we don’t fully understand someone else’s choices or life.
I’ll scroll online sometimes and see whole Reddit pages built around hating influencers. Strangers picking apart people they’ve never met. It’s crazy to me. And honestly? It’s sad. Because life is so short and so precious. Too precious to spend even a moment tearing someone down from behind a screen.
There are so many reasons to be grateful. So many little blessings we miss when we’re busy being negative. The warmth of your home. Your morning coffee. A husband who loves you. Sunlight spilling through your window. Breath in your lungs. Health. Hope. A future God is writing for you even when you can’t see it yet.
When you think about it like that, choosing negativity truly is a waste of the limited, sacred time we’ve been given.
And I’m not saying we have to love every post we scroll past or agree with every opinion online. But choosing to be cruel? Choosing to mock? Choosing to spend your time discussing someone else’s life like it’s entertainment, it’s just heartbreaking. There’s nothing life-giving about it.
I wish more people remembered that behind every photo and every caption is a real human with feelings, fears, dreams, and a story. Someone who’s trying their best. Someone God created with intention.
What if, instead of picking each other apart, we chose curiosity? Or compassion? Or even silence when we have nothing kind to say? Imagine how light the world would feel.
At the end of the day, every moment we spend being negative is a moment we could’ve spent growing, loving, creating, or simply being grateful for this beautiful, messy, ordinary life we’ve been gifted.
So let's choose light, softness, and gratitude. Choosing to lift others higher instead of weighing them down. Because the world doesn’t need more critics, it needs more hearts willing to shine.
